I know this greenery looks a little rare because it is now transitioned into the winter time, but I wanted to compile a few photos that I did not get to upload, from a back when it was green outside. These are some of my favorites that there was not room for in some of the other weeks when uploading.
Picture 1: This photo has got to be my favorite for this week. It is a potted plant that was right outside of my house. I really like how dainty it is, and how soft the leaves look in this. Something that I also really love about this photo is pink accents that you can see all throughout it. From the tips of the leaves, the stem, I can really appreciate the natural look in this photo. Picture 2: I also enjoy the second photo. One reason being the spacing of the leaves, and the natural alignment of how the photo turned out. Just like the last photo I think it is really cool to see the pink and red accents that the photo provides. The blue sky in the background balances everything out, and it is pleasing to the eye. Picture 3: This last one I like because of how jungly it looks. Though it is a regular oak tree, I just like the overall forest vibe that I get from it. I'm really happy that I got to finally upload these photos that I love, from the other weeks. I love how nature can be consistent like this, showing how beautiful it consistently is week after week. I think it is cool to be able to look closer in a photo to see all different kinds of the colors in the spectrum. I love that I've gotten to a point in this project where I can enjoy these little kinds of things, not everyone sees immediately. I'm pleased with the photos that I could accumulate for this week.

This is my final week I will be posting about a fall theme. I absolutely love fall and wanted to take full advantage of the photos that I could take for this week. I'm very happy with how this week turned out because it's so rare for me to get this kind of opportunity all year long. I make it sound like a big deal because I really wanted to stress the importance to enjoy the colors that do not show themselves very often. Here's how the photos from this week turned out..
Picture 1: I love the perspective of this photo. It's almost as if you're laying at the base of this tree staring up at the sky thinking of peaceful anythings. I also enjoy how you can get a view of the surrounding horizon of trees in the back. It just helps allude the autumn forest kind of thing going on here. Picture 2: This second photo is my favorite from this week. As soon as I saw the dainty little mushrooms I could not physically stop myself. I love finding things so delicate and fragile in something as robust as the woods. Picture 3: As this is my least favorite photo from this week, just let me explain myself. I know it's a little broad and plain, but if you click on this photo you may be able to see the viewpoint that I was going for. I looked into the woods and I loved the sight of the trees and the basic natural alignment of everything. I'm overall pretty proud with how this whole week panned out. I enjoyed myself in the woods when I went out to take these. And I'm happy with the turnout of all my fall pictures that I have acquired this season. Sad to say, but it looks like the fall leaves are almost all gone. One of the prettiest times of the year, only for a few weeks. I'm so thankful that I got to capture some of the beauty that nature brings this time of year. Outside of my house there are some trees that turn all sorts of the beautiful fall colors, that almost everyone enjoys!
Picture 1: For this first one, I decided to take it of this one tree that has only changed to yellow. When you're far away, it's so brightly colored, but up close you can really see all of the tiny oranges and reds that don't show up far away. It's my favorite when the sun shines through it, and really makes the color pop. Another thing I particularly like about this one is, how you can see the little silhouettes of the other leaves in the back, but it causes them to be defocused on them in the photo. I would have to say this is my favorite from this week. Picture 2: This photo was of one of the trees that hadn't fully changed into the fall colors. You can see some parts of the green leaves still left, along side the yellows and reds. I also like the larger perspective this photo gives, compared to something like the first picture. Picture 3: Not sure if you could tell, but this photo is kind of sideways although I do kind of like the angle. Another thing that I love about taking photos of leaves is how the stems are usually black, really making the colors stand out. Which this photo is a great at showing. Overall, I'm very happy with how this shoot went. While the leaves are still falling, I'm going to try to take lots of photos of them, since this will not last forever. So next week's may or may not be similar to this week's, but I can assure you, if you enjoyed these, I'm confident you'll love what I have for next week. Something that I've learned about myself from the project thus far is that I have really enjoyed taking raw pictures without putting a filter on them. I love the natural look paired with the nature type style. This week's photos were particularly fun for me to take, because I went to this little farm that my friend lives on. I'm very content with how they turned out in the end. Keep reading to hear more about the photos themselves!
Picture 1: When I saw this little fuzzy plant I knew I had to take a picture of it. It was flowing in the wind, growing on the side of the horse ring. The kind of things like this that are the simplest are my favorite ones to take pictures of. Picture 2: This photo is in the exact same place as the first photo. It just gives more attention and perspective on the horse ring itself. I love this weathered vibe that the rustic metal gives. Piture 3: I took this photo on the way back from the horse fields; it was in the woods. I was taking photos of my friend, when she pointed out a little snail on a leaf. The leaf was on a fallen branch, on the ground. As soon as I saw the tiny snail, I knew it would be perfect for this week. By far, this has probably been the funnest week for me personally. I really enjoyed myself, while at this farm. The temperature was absolutely perfect, with a slight breeze. Everything went right, and those are the types of shoots that I love. I want to go back to the same place (or even a different one) sometime, and take photos of an actual barn and an old run down truck or something. I've always seen similar photos to those and it has kind of inspired me to take some for myself, with my own spin on it. This week I decided to focus on flowers. Going into this, I'm super excited because this is a part of nature that I absolutely love. There's so many different kinds of flowers, ways to use them, and their details are mesmerizing. I've always enjoyed taking pictures of flowers in all sorts of lighting. I especially enjoy it whenever their colors can pop and it is almost captivating to look at. Here's how this week's shoot went..
Picture 1: This photo is my all time favorite from this week. I love how it captures the details of the flower. And I appreciate how it really forces you to just look at the entirety of the flower itself. I also really like the lighting in this photo, I feel it brings out all of the amazing colors and intricacies of the plant. Picture 2: I really love the lighting in this photo. I also like how from afar these flowers look very cute, but from up close you can see all of the imperfections of them. Yet it still looks balanced and pleasing to the eye. Picture 3: Although the lighting could have been better with this photo, I really love the structure of it. It's very detailed and centered on flower in the middle while fading out as you look at the rest of the flowers. Looking at all the photos, I'm thrilled with how this shoot turned out. I always love to take pictures of flowers. And love it even more whenever they turn out great. Overall I feel like all of the pictures this week were very balanced in and of themselves, which I find very satisfying to look at. Out of the project so far, this is definitely my favorite out of all of the weeks. Adding to that, this week also makes me extra happy because last week was so unsuccessful. This week I decided that I would try something a little different. Instead of the usual three different photos, I decided to focus on one subject. That one subject I chose was a little fountain that I have in my backyard. I've always been fond of this fountain because of its antique aesthetic. Here's how it all turned out..
Picture 1: I'll be the first to admit, at first glance this picture is kind of gross; dirty water in a fountain... Well what I really wanted to capture was the simplicity of it; the colors, and I was just feelin' the overall vibe. This is definitely my favorite photo out of the three this week. Picture 2: This definitely wasn't my favorite out of the three this week. I wanted to show what the fountain's top half looked like. I turn down the saturation a bit too, in hopes of maybe fixing it a little. That didn't make a difference. Picture 3: I feel like this picture could have gone better, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind whenever I had imagined this. I wanted to capture the bowl of the fountain, I think it was just the complete wrong angle. Overall, I'm not extremely happy with how this shoot turned out this week. I think maybe the time of day could have altered the outcome. I chose to do this around 2:00pm, whenever it is prime time sunlight. I feel it could have gone better if I waited until either early in the morning or as the sun was setting. I want to try the one subject thing again sometime because I think it was a good idea, it just messed up due to lighting, angles, and other factors. Even though I do not like how these photos turned out, at least it was a learning experience; which I can benefit from in the future of this project. This week I was pretty satisfied with how everything turned out. I loved the location. You could ask me any day, to go on a walk or hike in the woods and nine times out of ten I'd been down. And if the reason was to go take pictures, you'd have me sold. As for the actual pictures themselves, I was super happy with how they turned out. Everything fitted the theme of the "no filter" type nature pictures that I thoroughly enjoy taking. I like to post three pictures a week, but I had way more photos that I struggled to decide on which to post. Here's how these three turned out..
Picture 1: As I was about to walk into the opening area of the woods behind my house, I saw this cute little flower in the midst of some weeds and tall grass. I thought it'd be perfect; I captured it just how I had first seen it and that's one of the big things that I love about what I do with this project. It's crazy how when I look at this picture, I remember exactly how I felt, even the temperature and surroundings. Picture 2: With this second picture, I find myself using this point of view a lot when I take photos. Peering up at a tree, seeing the sky and sunlight peek through. It's cool to me, to see the details of the park and just the natural beauty of something so simple and common as a tree. Picture 3: I found this little plant nearing the end of my walk, it was so interesting and different. I love that bright purple stem it has. Also the green buds; I had never seen anything like this. I'm very pleased with how this shoot went. It was a very peaceful and serene. Even the temperature that day had made everything perfect; it was a very pleasant experience. This week's location might seem a little morbid to some, but I made sure I was extremely respectful of my surroundings. And I hope you can see that through my photos I took. The aesthetic I was going for this week, was a little darker, it's all part of my plan for this website; to try out different kinds of styles that I'm not used to. I personally thought it might be a little weird for me to walk up on a graveyard and start taking some pictures, but everything there was surprisingly very peaceful and tranquil. I walked up to my local church beside of my neighborhood and this is what I got..
Picture 1: I am really happy with how this one turned out, I love how perfectly it fits into this theme. As with the second picture it was a pretty average scene to begin with, but once I edited it on my computer, the mood instantly changed. Picture 2: This second picture without the darker kind of edit I chose to put on there, was a nice, peaceful photo to begin with. And it really goes to show how something you edit can change the whole mood of the picture. I think that's one of the coolest things that I get to explore and experiment with during this process. Picture 3: This photo was of a fence by the church that I went to. It was backed up to the woods, and I thought it would fit right in with what I was going for this week. All in all, I'm pretty content with how this shoot went. I'm really happy with the first photo. I think it was creative to go to a church and kind of step outside of my comfort zone because I don't normally go take pictures at churches. It turned out to be a lovely Sunday afternoon and I really enjoyed myself. The location that I chose to take pictures of this week was my backyard. I wanted to start basic so I could see the beauty in the nature around me. I also wanted to see where my creativity could take me, when working in a smaller space.
Picture 1: On Sunday morning at 6:45am I got up to see and take pictures of the sunrise. Right behind my house there is a great view of the sky across the golf course. It happened to be particularly beautiful today. There were oranges, yellows, reds, purples, blues, and everything in between. The light that reflects on the clouds makes this picture perfect. Picture 2: Like the first one, this second picture I took early in the morning as well. It's hard to see the sunrise in this one, but I really wanted to get the sky reflecting on the grass and fallen leaves. I love this kind of perspective in photos. It didn't turn out as best as I had imagined. I was just a little too close, but I definitely know how to fix this problem. I'll explain it more in the final paragraph. Picture 3: We have some monkey grass around my house. And sometimes they bloom little purple blossoms. In the picture, the vegetation is darker than the sky in the background. This photo turned out better than expected. I'm happy with the contrast and colors, also with the clarity. This week I did not edit any of the pictures I took. I wanted a very natural look to them. Other weeks I will definitely explore the options I have. Trying out different locations. But this week, I just wanted to see how creative I could be in a space that some would deem uncreative. I'm pretty happy with how the pictures turned out. Although I would like to see how I can make them a little more crisp. I feel like some were just a bit fuzzy, but this is just a learning process. When I took the second picture, I was very close. Instead I should have gotten a little further back, zoomed in a little, so the photo could have been sharper. For example, the third picture, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I did just as I said, stayed back a little, zoomed in, and it's just how I hoped it would have turned out. When I first thought about what I was going to do for this project a few topics came to mind. Photography was one of them. About a year ago I had gotten a camera for Christmas and taking photos for me was so much fun. But during the school year I found myself not having very much spare time. So as you can understand, I lost interest fast. I took the camera to the beach and got some pictures, but I haven't done very much since then but I would love to get back into it.
My plan for this project is to experiment in the world of photography. Trying out different styles, editing formats, and lenses. As of right now, I mostly just take pictures of nature and that's what I'm planning on sticking to for the most part. But I am open to trying new things because after all, isn't that what this project is all about? At this point it looks like I have most all of the materials that I will need. A camera, maybe a tripod, and a computer. But if there were any lenses that I wanted to try out, I would have to purchase those. The goal for my website is to have a very simplistic look, so my photos can really stand out. So far I have already put some of my older photos I have taken, on the home page in a little slideshow. The opening picture of my website is also a photo that I have taken. Thinking about my target audience, I really just want people of all ages to see the beauty of the world we live in. My plan for the weekly posts is to upload a few pictures from the location that I went to that week. Then discuss about where I went, thoughts on the pictures, and the tools/supplies that I used to make that happen. |
